Great! But Was Mine Open Box?

Feels like I got an open box. The box itself was pretty bashed up but the box came in a thin little bag so maybe it got crushed in shipping.

Unfortunately in addition to the box being bashed looking, while all individual elements of the mic stand were in bubble wrap, The first pole was dented a bit at the connection point (picture included) so I couldn’t screw the two pieces together. I used pliers to bend it back, thank goodness that works.

Aside from those initial unfortunate events, the mic stand is extremely sturdy, I’m shocked at how sturdy it is for how little the legs are And that it uses that circular tightening mechanism rather than a a little arm to give you more leverage and torque like my older mic stand. Everything about this feels much more sturdy and more professional than my previous mic stand.

I am using the clip attachment for the microphone, it is gripping and NTG-2 fine. I wouldn’t be upset if it was a little more tight but it’s holding on, I am not worried about the mic falling.

And it comes with a travel bag! Nifty! (The mic stand has to be broken down into its separate attachable poles to fit which means extra work when packing and setting up each time but that’s all right. Especially for under $40.

This boom stand is adequate for the price. The height of it is very nice, and I appreciate that it includes a multitude of mic holders. However, it should have been constructed a bit thicker to support the weight of heavier microphones. Additionally, the telescoping segments of the stand don't all have internal stops, so you can accidentally pull a portion off of the stand. The stand has writing that indicates the max level that should be used, but it would have been simpler with the implementation mentioned above.

For the $25 price I was a little bit skeptical, but I am not disappointed. It is very adjustable, that's why there are so many knobs to set angle and adjust height. Adjust from a tall speaker standing to a person seated in a chair. It telescopes into a small package, and comes with a heavy duty nylon carry bag with hook and loop closure and a loop handle. It comes with two sizes of microphone clip, both adjustable. One is flexible plastic to accommodate different diameters, and a spring-loaded "clothes pin" style with a wide size range. The tubes that telescope within one another do not have a mechanical stop, so they will pop apart. But, they are easy to put back together. The stand is very lightweight if load in and load out weight is a concern.

The adjustment knobs look a bit flimsy and the stand its self was not as solid as I had hoped it would be..
Maybe everything is getting pretty crappy now, I must be showing my age.
