Ideas for children focused music businesses

Music businesses that are focused on instructing children can be very lucrative. Music instructors who have instruments available at their location are in demand. Especially for those instruments that are either heavy, large or loud. Having the child student come to our location is a great time saver since we will not be hampered by the issues of travel. An additional source of income can be to sell the actual musical instruments that we offer to instruct.

A great idea for instruments for a children focused music business is percussion instruments. Many children are drawn to percussion and parents are looking for instructors who can offer lessons outside the home. Here are some great sets that are reduced in size for child players.

If a smaller footprint is wanted, this Mendini three piece junior drum set is a good choice. It is available in black, blue, red, green or purple. The size is scaled down for a young aspiring drummer. The set includes the bass drum, tom tom, snare drum, and crash cymbal. The drum throne set is included as well as a set of drum sticks.

For kids aged 6 -12 this Mendini by Cecilio is just right. It comes in 5 different colors and the set has all that is needed to get started. Even though it is small in size the quality is high and the sound is good. The durability of this set is great for multiple practice sessions. This is made for regular playing. Included in the set are the 11 by 16 inch bass drum, including the foot pedal, a 6 by 10 inch mounted tom drum, a 5 by 10 inch snare drum, and a crash cymbal. The drum throne is padded and adjustable in height for multiple student sizes. Drum sticks are included in the kit.

For a realistic experience, yet sized for a child, this Mendini is a 5 piece drum set that is a great beginner package. This set is very inclusive and features a 16 by 11 inch bass drum, 10 by 5 inch and 8 by 6 inch tom toms, a 12 by 10 inch floor tom, and a 10 by 6 inch snare drum. For cymbals it has an 8 inch hi-hat with a stand, and a 10 inch crash with a bass mounted stand. There is a height adjustable drum throne, bass drum pedal and pair of wooden drum sticks in this kit.

Full drum sets can take up quite a bit of floor footprint. If we are looking for just a simple percussion instrument, this snare drum by Mendini will work well. It is 14 by 3.5 inches and rests on a non-adjustable stand. The kit includes a padded gig bag and drum sticks.

An additional percussion piece that kids love is a tambourine.  This eight inch Kalos tambourine has five pairs of jingles. The construction is wood and the skin of this tambourine is a synthetic blend. With this small size, having several of these on hand will work, especially if we teach more than one child at a time.
