5 great ways to enhance the office kitchen

An office usually has a small kitchen or breakroom. Within it there are typically an assortment of a few devices like a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave, and sometimes there might also be a stove top and/or an oven. Enhancing the office kitchen might not be a top priority, but doing so can potentially increase employee satisfaction and productivity.

Employees will likely take only small coffee breaks in a less optimal breakroom, but when the kitchen is outfitted with a greater variety of useful gadgets they may stay around for lunch time. Staying at the office for lunch can allow a net benefit of increased productivity. Instead of experiencing the frustrations, time delays, and aggravations that can come from traveling to a busy restaurant, an employee can relax and enjoy a great meal in the fully outfitted office kitchen.

Here are five great items to help outfit the office kitchen for greater employee satisfaction.

A coffee maker is great, but this Coffee Gator pour over kettle has the benefit of working without paper filters. This will save money for the office but also the stainless steel filter will not add or subtract flavor from our coffee. The simple design can be a great addition to the coffee maker allowing different flavors or decaf varieties whenever they are wanted.
If there is an oven or stovetop in the kitchen then this professional quality cast iron pan is just what the office kitchen needs. It is a perfect size at 12.5 inches and can handle large recipes. Great for using to reheat foods in the oven as well as on the stovetop. There is a 4.5 inch handle on one side and on the other side is an additional handle to help with stability. It comes pre-seasoned so everyone can use it without delay.
Oven mitts are great for stovetop pans and oven dishes, but they are also important for comfortably handling dishes from the microwave. These pot holders have a silicone back and a divided pocket to enhance the grip. Two of these mitts come with the order which is ideal for removing large items from an oven. When not being used as oven mitts these 10 by 7 inch holders will serve as trivet mats.
Without a meat thermometer, it is hard to know when certain foods are ready, leading to over or under-cooked food. This Kizen thermometer can test the temperature of beverages and frying oil as well as meat dishes. It gives a readout in under three seconds. The backlit screen is large and easy to read. Now we don’t have to guess the temperature on our meals from the microwave and can tell if the coffee is too hot to drink.
A great way to create additional storage for the office kitchen is to use these Thirteen Chefs shelf liners for our wire shelving units. The benefits of a wire shelf are durability, strength, and more light to all the shelves. The drawbacks are that the wire surface does not allow some items to rest without risk of falling over or falling through. These liners are translucent, so they won’t block the light while they will create a stable and flat surface for our kitchen items. There are several sizes, which will allow them to snuggly fit the wire shelving.

It does not take much change to make a noticeable improvement.  This can be great for employee moral. Just a small investment in office kitchen enhancement can pay back in employee satisfaction and productivity.
